15th ISO/TC 136 International Furniture Standardization Technical Committee Annual Meeting Was Successfully Held in Shanghai

The 15th ISO/TC 136 International Furniture Standardization Technical Committee Annual Meeting was successfully held in Shanghai. Standardization Administration of the PRC and Shanghai Shanghai Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research (SQI) hosted the meeting. Mr. Chen Xiaojun, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technology Supervision, Mr. Xu Xiangnan,  Chairman of China Furniture Association, Mr. Ji Fei, president of SQI and Mr. Wang Xuhua, deputy director of Integrated Business Department of China Light Industry Federation attended the meeting.

The meeting contained 5 working group meetings related with table, chair and stool, storage, kitchen furniture and children''s furniture and mainly focused on international standards and other technical content about furniture products.

On the working group meeting of children''s furniture, SQI introduced the proposal of International Standards for Safety Requirements and Testing Methods of Children''s Furniture Mattresses drafted by SQI. And on the general meeting, SQI introduced the proposal of Physical and Chemical Properties of Furniture Paint Film drafted by SQI. Experts of SQI emphasized the feasibility of the project and the application prospect of the market and the preliminary research situation. The attendants all agreed with the two proposals.

On the general meeting, President Ji Feishowed his thanks to the experts on behalf of the host in the field of global furniture standardization and congratulated them on the expected results of the annual meeting. He said that since the reform and opening up 40 years ago, China has leaped to become a major furniture producer in the world. As a global furniture production center, China''s furniture industry is growing rapidly and has great potential. In the future, China will continue to devote itself to the standardization of the furniture industry and promote the highest and best international standards for Chinese furniture. He called on that Chinese furniture enterprises should speed up standardization construction and constantly improve the quality of products and services to promote the quality of furniture industry and meet the growing needs of the people for a better life. He hoped that experts from all countries would strengthen international cooperation and exchanges to increase participation in standardization work and contribute to the development of global furniture standardization.
