SQI Visited the Palace Museum for Research on the Restoration of Ancient Books

On December 25, SQI Institute of Quality Inspection of Light Industry and Chemical Products visited the Palace Museum for research on the restoration of the ancient books and communicated on the verification technology and quality control of the repair of paper cultural relics.

Person in charge of SQI Institute of Quality Inspection of Light Industry and Chemical Products introduced the basic situation and project progress of the scientific research project Research and Application of Standardized Inspection Method for Traditional Chinese Handmade Paper which is run by SQI. The main purpose of the project is to establish the standard of performance methods for handmade paper and to test the properties of paper (such as burst resistance, tensile strength, etc.) and obtain scientifically reproducible results.

Experts from the Palace Museum introduced on the ancient repair technology. At the same time, they said that the protection and restoration of ancient books and documents is of great significance to the promotion and inheritance of the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
