On October 22, Mrs. Wang Hui, public affairs director of North Asia of
Unilever, Mr. Zhu Jiebing, regulatory affairs director of North Asia of Unilever
and Mr. Nie Liang, deputy director of public affairs of China led a delegation
of Unilever to visit SQI for communication.
On the meeting, Mr. Ji Fei, president of SQI introduced
the capability and qualification, talent team, scientific research and
standardization situation to the guests. He focused on the the technical ability
of national quality inspection centers for food, cleaning products and consumer
goods of SQI and shared the successful experience of SQI in serving quality
improvement and helping enterprises to participate in the construction of Shanghai
brand. He said that SQI adhered to the green and sustainable development
strategy and actively carried out technical research and standard formulation in
testing and certification of biodegradable products and renewable plastics. SQI
has taken the lead in releasing group standards such as take-out lunch box and take-out
food package which improved the safety of take-out food.
Mrs. Wang Hui confirmed the ability of SQI and she
introduced that Unilever is one of the main producers of fast-moving consumer
goods in the world. The large-scale production and circulation of fast-moving
consumer goods bring considerable economic income to the enterprise, but also
cause a large number of plastic packaging. As a large multinational enterprise,
Unilever has the responsibility and obligation to actively reduce the use of
plastic packaging.
Mr. Zhu Jiebing said that Unilever has been exploring new
business models to reduce the use of plastic packaging by making packaging from
environmentally friendly and renewable materials. He hoped that with the help
of SQI, both side could cooperate on renewable plastic testing.
Mr. Nie Liang hoped that in the next stage, Unilever will
cooperate with SQI to establish an effective standard system in recycling,
utilization, testing and certification of plastic packaging products.
The delegation also visited the laboratories of SQI and
communicated with technical personnel on the quality and safety of recycled
plastics used in food and cosmetic packaging materials.
