On August 22nd, Shanghai Consumer Council convoked media communication meeting and announced the research result of 21 mosquito repellent products bought from E-commerce platform.
In the meeting, the expert from Shanghai City Disease Prevention and Control Information Platform explained several key issues consumers intersted in detail, such as definition and effect of mosquito repellent. Representatives of E-commerce platform and technicians gave responses and explanations about the reliability of infant-using products and pregnant using products with showing evidentiary material such as test reports and pesticide registration certification.
Entrusted by Shanghai Consumer Council, SQI Institute of Quality Inspection of Light Industry & Chemical Products detected 13 mosquito repellent products according to GB 24330-2009 General Security Technical Specification for Domestic Sanitary Insecticide. Detected items covered DEET, BAAPE, Ethohexadiol and Picaridin, and DEET and BAAPE were detected in three products.
