On October 14, the fifth meeting of ISO/TC38/SC23/WG02 was held in Italy successfully. Mr. Li Weidong, person in charge of SQI Institute of Fiber Quality Inspection assembled and hosted the meeting. On the meeting, a report on the work progress of the working group in the early stage was made and the minutes of the fourth meeting of WG02 working group which was held in New Orleans in October 2017 was adopted. Experts from SQI introduced the new work proposal on the detection method of flax components which was proposed by SQI in detail. Subsequently, the experts discussed the name and scope of application of the proposal. The setting of this method will have an important impact on the quality control of flax and other hemp fibers in actual production and international trade.

The successful holding of the working group meeting not only promoted the further improvement of the ISO standard system in the field of natural cellulose fiber, but also strengthened the interaction between experts from various countries, effectively improving the status and influence of China in the relevant testing field.
