Musical candle is a little electrical device which can be lighted like an ordinary birthday candle and can also play birthday song. It is generally sold with birthday cake.
Media reported that a 5-year-old boy was injured by musical electrical candle on his birthday party. When the candle was burning and singing, it occur exploding and hurt boy’s left eye.
Shanghai Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research was commissioned by AQSIQ to operate the risk inspection activity on musical candle. As the monitoring result, experts from SQI provided a warning to consumer that musical candle existed serious risk on fire and blast. AQSIQ product quality and safety risk monitoring center suggested that related safety standard should be improved. China Quality Daily has already reported the risk monitoring program by SQI.
